This is the sixth post in a series on personal vision.

We're
still trying to get down to what's important to us, so I'm considering this
question.
What are the guts of what you are
about?
List some individual words or
phrases that you would use
to
describe what is important to you at your core.
Worship. Truth. Integrity. Honesty. Loyalty.
Authenticity. Creativity. Love. These things are important to me. Not one is fluff. There may be more, but this is a big
chunk. If you started to strip these
away from me, you would taking away who I am or want to be. I suppose I could get a little passionate if
you demanded that I compromise on these things or put them away from me. I can't deny them and be true to myself. I try to pretend that Creativity is optional sometimes,
but it's not. I've learned that through
the years. There are probably more words
I would add but this is a good place to start.
Looking
back to 2004, this is how I answered the question then...
"I
want to live my life in honesty before God and man and I want to encourage
others to do the same. No pretending. I want to live "in love with
God" in a way that others would want to as well. Worship through music - expression/dance -
art - reality - honesty - lover of God - trusting - trustworthy - faithful -
steadfast - grace and truth in equal measure."
It
hasn't changed all that much through these years. It is good to consider what is in our hearts
and to align that with the Word and pursue it.
I hope you will consider the questions and know your heart a little
better.
Next
week, I'll write about my vision and value statements that came out of these
exercises. Maybe you will work on yours, too. I'd love to hear about it.
