What makes you happy?

Our worship team leader recently asked us to answer these questions:

When are you most happy?
Are other people necessary for your happiness?
Why or why not?

I'm probably most happy when I am consciously aware and filled with God's love and favor. This is likely more joy rising up to the surface.  I am happy when my girls are near and we are all being silly together and the relationships aren't strained.  I'm also happy when I am in the beauty of nature and for this I need some alone time with God.  I'm happy after an accomplishment or after meeting with a friend.  My thankful wall makes me happy.  Yellow makes me happy.  So does purple... and coffee with cream... and sweet children... and music, silence, campfires, sunsets, waterfalls, and many other things...

"Happy" can be true or can hide inner sadness.  I guess true happiness has to do with contentment and security for me.  I guess I am skeptical about happiness and would rather opt for joy.  I have hidden behind a happy face more than once.  I'd rather know deep inner joy than have a happy face or happy event.  Sometimes these reside together and sometimes they compete.

I choose joy.  How about you?
